1. A person, typically a man, who is admired for courage or noble qualities.
Judging from this definition it's clear that it is gender bias! Typically a "hero" is a man according to this definition. Doesn't seem quite right in my eyes because there are numerous women out in the world that have done exceptional work that deserves recognition. Hitting a more personal surface is talking about the most important hero in my life...my Mother. She has been my hero since the sweltering days in the womb. She demonstrates superiority over every situation that deems it. When I talk to her she comforts instead of judge...as a mother should. Through mistakes and my erratic ideas she holds me down....my rock...MY HERO!
If I am lucky to follow in her size 8 shoe I know I will uphold the thrown, and sprinkle a little of my own demiurgic abilities on it. I will continue to make her proud...continue to make me proud...continue to keep that "hero" mindset because at the end of the day...the word hero inherits a new definition. Think about it...and then reconsider YOUR meaning of hero. Many say that they live to be a hero or some sort of legend...but in reality they do not put forth all of the effort that comes along with it. But as the quest for being a hero continues on the obvious question is 'What exactly is a hero?' Will this question ever be answered with only one answer? Can it only be answered with one answer? Is the only characteristic consist of doing good deeds? Yea....Just a thought....I guess
